Reformed, restyled & restored - MUMBAI

The design of the Miyabi store store is a testament to the transformational journey of the space itself. The focus of the design was to create the comfort and warmth of outdoor space within the store space and this became the dominant framework for the furniture and fixtures. The furniture pieces follow an earthy colour scheme with fun and quirky pops of colour to enliven the store.

Creating the right mood with the right elements

The materiality is composed of remnant elements such as ‘I’ beam trusses and the ladder used together with exposed finishes like concrete. The ‘I’ beam trusses, originally constructed to support a mezzanine, were extruded in height to create a frame for a pergola-looking ceiling. This frame is embellished with artificial creepers and hanging lights to create the aesthetic and mood of a verandah space, exuding the same comfort and leisure.

The patterns created along the display area also have existing tiles repainted for a rejuvenated look . The space is adorned with minimal materials to celebrate the existing materiality of the store.
