The deadly virus and the fear of contacting it has managed to do what no being on earth has been capable of – making humans sit at home, for an indeú nite period of time across the globe. Who could have thought of that possibility? But humans are resilient beings, we adapt and adopt as per the situation, some of us never ever giving up. In the hour of social distancing, we have to embrace the ongoing state of affairs, and created several measures, some of them harsh to not only survive, but blossom. This is the new normal.

The April 2020 issue of Salon International-India is delightfully different! Now, what could it possibly have as the content from across the fraternity of professional brands, artists, and salon owners is wholesome, and the design is dynamic? There is always a learning and it is possible to improve. Salon International-India has hence moved with the times and keeping the safety and health measures of our stakeholders, we have adapted the print issue to suit the digital world. The March issue of 2020. We are already a quarter into the year, and it tells us just how fast time is û ying. I think it is good when time û ies, as it means you are in motion and doing something, anything which is hopefully, productive. But, then 'productive' is a relative word. People pretend to be awake hence, feel productive, while the truth is that they are asleep. In every way. So, when you are asleep, there is no motion, only stillness. And to stagnate is to die, right? This issue is all about women power and the number of women in the business of beauty. Over lunch, I was part of a common debate: are women successful in the beauty industry because of their inherent interest in beauty versus men have always been known to have more business acumen and so many of them are in this business. There is no deú nite answer but, this month, we are celebrating women. Their presence, the difference they make to the lives they touch and calling it International Women's Day. I think, every day should be celebrated as one, and women made to feel special. Our cover story is on power women who have made a mark in the B & W industry of India. They share their success stories and beliefs.

The year 2020 kickstarted with opportunites galore in the hair and beauty industry. Social media is continuing to call the shots and directly impacting the dynamics of the industry. A make-up artist by education and also the owner of Chandigarh-based Cleopatra Spa and Salon chains, she grabs every opportunity to learn and stay updated. She is a celebrated name inthe industry and an honorary member of several associations from the beauty and wellness industry, she shares her thoughts. wellbeing has fuelled the growth of destination spas and wellness

Mark Simpson, the famous writer and broadcaster specialising in
popular culture, media, and masculinity, has said, “Metrosexual man is
a single young man with a high disposable income, living or working in
the city (because that is where all the best shops are), is perhaps the
most promising consumer market of the decade. In the 80s, he was
only to be found inside fashion magazines, such as, GQ. In the 90s,
he is everywhere and he is going shopping.” However, it was not until
the early 2000s when Simpson returned to the subject that the term
became globally popular. In 2002, salon.com published an article by
Simpson, which described David Beckham as 'the biggest metrosexual
in Britain' and offered this updated definition: The typical metrosexual
is a young man with money to spend, living in or within easy reach of a
metropolis – because that is where all the best shops, clubs, gyms and
hairdressers are. He might be officially gay, straight or bisexual, but this
is utterly immaterial because he has clearly taken himself as his own
love object and pleasure as his sexual preference.
