As the month of August commences, we may be greeted with some rain splattered days and also some sunny days. So while the weather seems to be quite characteristic of this time of the year, the country seems to be upbeat about the impending Independence Day celebrations that are around the corner. This year, India will be celebrating 70 years of freedom! So, it’s time to re-live that proud day again and to reiterate the importance of freedom, youth power, respect, self-reliance and everything that our national heroes struggled and valiantly fought for.
Today, we may not be fighting against nationals of a particular country, but we are definitely fighting ‘wars’ against diseases and certain immoral practices that plague our society. The word ‘freedom,’ sparks in us a sense of rebellion and relief from tyranny. The word has evolved tremendously over the years and hence, it doesn’t merely refer to freedom from external influences of oppression and the like.
