Spread across 5000 square feet and built over three levels, Marici Experience centre, Kolkata has been conceptualized along the theme of ‘Marici’ - a deva or deity from the Buddhist culture who is associated with light and the sun. Designed as a holistic, single stop experience centre for lighting design and solutions, the spatial design offers an unaltered and uninterrupted lighting experience through various arrangements of light fixtures and fittings. The one of a kind retail experience zone for lighting products has been designed by Salient Design Studio.

A SPATIAL ODE TO LIGHT

Salient Design Studio, Kolkata based multidisciplinary firm, led by Vivek Singh Rathore, Design Principal, recently, developed a unique design for Marici Experience centre that augments the retail experience for lighting through innovative, energy efficient schemes and illumination systems.

The entire space is conceptualized with a neutral grey colour palette, and meticulously segmented into 12 distinct zones or sections. “The space displays products and their luminosity through the experiential spatial layout and is further interspersed with the modules of actual functional spaces, such as workspaces, lounges, dining areas, etc.,—all amidst a mix of formal and informal settings. The ground floor exemplifies the experience of the outdoor lighting section, while the first-floor plate showcases the architectural lighting and the second and last floor-plate reveal seven sections showcasing different types of decorative lighting and fans. The stairway opens up to the dining section followed by a reading room, comprising of table lamp luminaires on a display table along the rear wall,” explains Vivek.
