Resident Evil Village
The Resident Evil franchise is a series that hasn't been afraid to push itself into new directions. What started as a survival horror game with minor action elements was turned around with the arrival of Resident Evil 4, and then pushed out into action-adventure territories even more so with RE5 and RE6. This was followed by a harsh pull back into almost pure survival horror with the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 7. It’s been four years since the last major release for the franchise, and March this year saw the 25th Anniversary for the series' inception. In that time, Capcom has made a lot of strides, and Resident Evil Village is the ultimate culmination of what Resident Evil should be, hand-picking the greatest aspects of the series into a single, well-oiled machine.

Smelter
Smelter begins with a running start. You are instantly thrown into a beautiful anime-like intro that tells the backstory of our main character Eve. Eve is a character inspired by the biblical story of Adam and Eve. However, in Smelter once Adam eats the forbidden fruit a huge explosion occurs destroying the world they are in. We see Eve falling, surrounded by darkness with no end in sight. You won’t get bored watching this because an entertaining narrator jumps in describing the predicament that Eve is in with a ton of detail. Don’t criticise him too much, he’s just trying to do a good job.

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey
From the very beginnings of Elite Dangerous’Kickstarter, being able to experience the universe from your avatar’s own two feet has been something “on the roadmap” although it was never guaranteed to make it into the final game. Some six and a bit years later and the newest expansion, Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, will finally let commanders stretch their legs and finally get out of those cockpits.
