“It’s not the destination, it’s the journey!” – words famously attributed to 19th-century essayist and philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson. I would go a step further and say that it’s about the entire organisation of the trip. Select the destination; secure flights; coordinate transfers; enact action plan; check-in to the hotel; and enjoy oneself to the fullest. It's quite an art if you ask me.
My latest odyssey saw me jet off to some of the Philippines’ most dreamy islands, where my return journey involved three taxis, a boat ride and two flights to reach my front door in Dubai (and that’s not to mention the many flight and boat excursions to hop from island to island). Each staging post was ticked off in my mind with quiet satisfaction as my journey was executed to a tee. It was a worthwhile expedition to experience those mesmerising pink sunsets that descend over the golden beaches of the archipelagic country every evening.
