“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.” I’ve read these words from the late, great chef Anthony Bourdain many times, appreciating his ability to articulate the beautiful, unbridled joy of travel, even in a world that can oft feel like a big and daunting place. But travel is a luxury and it’s something we should always be grateful for, as it has the power to connect communities, break down cultural barriers and open one’s heart to different people and places.
Our role is to show you the beauty of this world, and so this issue we take you on some truly breath-taking adventures: on a ’silent safari in Zambia; fishing, foraging and high-flying in the Norwegian fjords; riding the rails along the northern coast of Spain on a ‘green’ getaway; and to beautiful Lisbon to experience its cuisine and culture.
We hope this issue helps open your mind and heart to what our incredible world has to offer. And to never take it for granted.
