The Cover story analyses the near paralysed status of Tamilnadu Government after the arrest of its former Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha, after the verdict of a Bangalore special court pronounced her guility in the Rs.53.5 crore disproportianate assets case. O.Panneerselvam, the Bodinayackanur MLA who has taken charge as the new CM of the state is not known to be as powerful as his party's supremo. Though he has decorated the top post in the State for a brief period, when Ms.Jayalalitha's candidature was disqualified by the Supreme Court in 2001-2001, then he was having the guidance of his leader who was in the capital city. But now Jaya is in a Bangalore Jail and Ministers and MLA's keep visiting her. So many beauracratic decisions are pending before the new CM, seeking his tough stand in various issues. An annexure to the cover story traces the 18 year history of disproportianate assets case lodged against the former CM J.Jayalalitha, her accomplices Sasikala. N.Sudhakaran and Ilavarasi. 2. The Assembly polls in Maharasthra and Haryana is fast nearing. In Maharashtra its a four progned battle since the 25 year old BJP-Siva Sena coalition and the 15 year old incumbent Congress-NCP coalition have broken. In Haryana also BJP has chopped off its ties and faces the election as a lone party. In both the states the BJP whch rules at the centre is projecting its Prime Minister Narendra Modi,a replica of its tried and tested formula in Lok Sabha elections that gave the party a landslide vicotry across the country. A special story on these two impending elections analyses the fiery campaing trial by all the contesting parties and would also give an insight whats the mood that prevails among the masses.
