The National Animal Health Information System (iSIKHNAS) recorded a reduction in productive female ruminants cutting by 47.10% in the 2017-2018 period.
Director General of Animal Husbandry and Health, I Ketut Diarmita at the Jakarta Ministry of Agriculture Office Wednesday (13/03) said that the number of productive females cut in 2017 as many as 23,078 tails increased to only 12,209 in 2018.
"This reduction in significant productive female cuts is a result of the massive monitoring activities prohibiting the cutting of productive females in various regions in Indonesia specifically in 17 provinces which have been pilot project activities since 2017," said I Ketut.
He explained that the loans to cut large ruminant livestock of productive females could be sentenced to a minimum of 1 year imprisonment and a maximum of 3 years and a fine of 100 million to 300 million rupiah.

Pun ada kalanya pakan dari feedmill dengan kualitas dan juga variasi diet pelet,” sambung Pacheco pada Kamis (12/5).

Berdasarkan laporan Dinas Ketahanan Pangan dan Peternakan Provinsi Jawa Barat pada pekan ke-5 pada Maret, ketersediaan daging sapi di Kota Bandung tersedia sebanyak 163 kilogram (kg), sedangkan untuk ketersediaan secara keseluruhan di Jawa Barat ada sebanyak 2.544 kg dengan kebutuhan sebanyak 2.403 kg, sehingga masih ada surplus.
Lebih lanjut Kepala Dinas Ketahanan Pangan Peternakan Provinsi Jawa Barat, Mohamad Arifin membeberkan bahwa pihaknya memprediksi kenaikan harga untuk pangan asal ternak tidak sampai melambung.

Hal itu menyebabkan kebutuhan bahan baku selama 6 tahun terakhir rata-rata tumbuh 4%, sedangkan produksi susu segar hanya tumbuh 2,6%.

Beberapa bulan ke belakang, peternak layer (ayam petelur) gencar menyuarakan harga telur yang anjlok dan harga jagung yang menjulang kepada pemerintah. Anomali harga jagung yang sempat bertengger di angka Rp 6.000 per kilogram (kg), membuat peternak tidak berkutik. Pasalnya, jagung merupakan bahan pakan esensial bagi ayam petelur yang memiliki persentase sebesar 50 %.

Sudah jatuh tertimpa tangga pula, mungkin ini kiasan yang tepat untuk menggambarkan kondisi peternakan ayam petelur sekarang. Selain harga jagung yang meroket, harga telur di tingkat peternak pun terpantau lesu. Kesempatan untuk berdialog dengan pemerintah juga terus dilakukan bahkan dengan Presiden RI Joko Widodo (Jokowi), guna menemukan solusi jitu dari kemelut budidaya ayam petelur.

Kebutuhan susu nasional yang masih dipenuhi 77,4 % dari impor. Seyogyanya diperlukan strategi khusus untuk meningkatkan produksi susu di dalam negeri apalagi adanya iklim tropis menjadikan pekerjaan rumah tersendiri bagi stakholder persusuan di Tanah Air.
