HOW expert witnesses help to solve some of the country’s most complex major crimes is the focus of this documentary strand, which begins its fifth series today.
In August 2022 in Liverpool, a 28-year-old woman, Ashley Dale, was shot by a gunman who forced his way into her home. Rumours circulate that it was part of a gang feud, leading the cops to deduce that Ashley was not the intended target, but her boyfriend, Lee Harrison, a local drug dealer.
But with nobody prepared to speak to the police, investigators instead had to piece together what happened using a combination of CCTV footage and the expert testimony of a ballistics expert, Andre Horne.
