Sitting amid the green community of the Rockwell neighborhood is a glasshouse. First-time onlookers may wonder what’s inside until one gets a glimpse of the unassuming palette of grays, beiges, and blues, with hints of stone and gold—it’s a restaurant concept from homegrown brand harlan + holden.

Founder Eman Pineda believes in extending the brand to connect with a bigger market. Still, he recognizes the difficulty in ensuring that the overall image and messaging remain the same. This is why Eman and his team were adamant that everything, from the interiors to the food, were in line with brand values of ease, comfort, and uniformity.

For this, they tapped Copenhagen-based design team Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi of Gamfratesi to create the look for the Rockwell Glasshouse. The architects were inspired by old-world European glasshouses, enhanced with solid natural materials such as terrazzo walls and emperador marble from Italy. “Our restaurant, like our apparel, speaks of the everyday. We aim to provide an easy and comfortable experience that you want to make your daily habit,” says the brand.

Serving as an oasis at the heart of Makati, what sets harlan + holden dine apart—besides its very Instagram-able aesthetic—is its aim of delivering a calm but harmonious excitement to their clientele. This can be seen in the merging of modern aesthetics with comfort in the design: mixed metal chairs with fabric finishes, marble countertops paired with beige-flecked walls, and long couches for long conversations.

It’s easy to get lost in the conversation as the floor-to-ceiling glass walls are anything but confining. As if the outside greenery is not enough, tall trees are strategically placed all over the main floor as a refreshing addition.

Even the food on the menu is as refreshing and straightforward, with pastas and main dishes that offer comfort on an everyday level. It is this level of conversation and comfort that harlan + holden dine delivers.
