Sutton Harbour Group is selling two key assets
Western Morning News
|July 02, 2026
TWO of Plymouth’s best-known waterfront pubs are being sold and are expected to fetch more than £2.5 million combined.
The freehold of the Premier Inn and Cookhouse Pub, at Lockyers Quay, and Sutton Harbour’s Miller and Carter Steakhouse, formerly known as The China House, will be auctioned in July. They are being sold by Sutton Harbour Group (SHG), which has been offloading assets to pay off its bank debt.
The Premier Inn and Cookhouse Pub site has a guide price of between £2m and £2.2m, while the Miller and Carter pub and restaurant has a guide of £475,000 to £525,000. They will go under the hammer on July 15 in a commercial auction run by the UK’s leading property auctioneer, Allsop.
The Lockyers Quay property was built by Premier Inn owner Whitbread Group in 1996. Whitbread, the largest hospitality business in the UK, still has a lease on the property which does not expire until 2095. The hotel has 84 bedrooms and 91 parking spaces. The entire site covers 1.73 acres.
