Kate Wobschall on Wimbledon
Quiet please... whisper it, but now is practically the only time when it’s acceptable to wash your tea down with a pint of Pimms and lemonade.
Because that wonderful British tradition of Wimbledon is back on our screens. And that can only mean one thing - overnight, we have all become experts in the noble pastime of tennis.
That was in! Everyone can see there was chalk dust! We're all at it, embracing our inner John McEnroe as this annual celebration of toned legs, headbands and impractical white clothing graces our TV screens once more.
Despite the fact we actually know very little about the game itself, we all have our favourite Wimbledon moment, whether it’s Andy Murray scaling the roof of the commentary box after his 2013 win or Jana Novotna sobbing tears of joy all over the Duchess of Kent.
Maybe it’s Rafa Nadal overcoming Roger Federer after a seven-hour beast of a game.
Or McEnroe totally losing the plot with his ‘you cannot be serious’ meltdown.
My friend Jarrad loves it. He even tried out to be one of the people who shouts ‘Out!’ but didn’t get picked as apparently he didn’t sound angry enough.
