ELON MUSK ANNOUNCES TESLA ROBOTAXIS AND HUMANOID ROBOTS FOR SAUDI ARABIA

Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, revealed plans last week to bring the company’s autonomous Robotaxis, dubbed Cybercabs, and Optimus humanoid robots to Saudi Arabia, marking a bold step in the kingdom's push for technological innovation.
-

Speaking at the Saudi-US Investment Forum in Riyadh, Musk highlighted the move as a boost to Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, a strategy to diversify its economy through cutting-edge tech.
For Saudi commuters, global investors, and tech enthusiasts, this announcement signals Tesla’s ambition to reshape mobility and automation in a region eager to become a global tech hub, within a $2 trillion autonomous vehicle market and a $4.7 trillion humanoid robot sector.
The Cybercab, a sleek, self-driving taxi with no steering wheel, and Optimus, a versatile robot designed for tasks from factory work to personal assistance, aim to transform transportation and labor in the kingdom.
While no specific timeline was shared, Musk’s vision aligns with Saudi Arabia's $600 billion investment in U.S. tech, announced during the forum.

Musk's announcement came during a high-profile event attended by U.S. and Saudi leaders, where he emphasized the “exciting” potential of autonomous vehicles and robots in the kingdom.
The Cybercab, unveiled in October 2024 at Tesla’s “We, Robot” event, is a two-seater priced under $30,000, designed for urban ride-hailing with gull-wing doors and advanced Al. Optimus, showcased dancing in a May 2025 video, stands 5 feet 8 inches and weighs 125 pounds, built for tasks like assembly or caregiving.
Musk likened the robots to Star Wars’ C-3PO and R2-D2, suggesting they'll be personal assistants, with Tesla aiming to produce 10,000 to 12,000 units this year. Social media reactions on X called the move a “game-changer” for Saudi tech, though some questioned the timeline given Tesla’s history of delays.
