The Racers Edge Ultra 120 Touch has a big list of features and is designed to take on a wide variety of challenges. It can safely and accurately charge LiPo, LiFe, Li-Ion, LiHV, Ni-Cd, NiMH, and Pb batteries at a maximum rate of 12A, and has an automatic protection against reverse polarity input or output. It also has a 5V USB outlet for convenience, and termination voltage can be adjusted for LiPo packs. All this in an AC/DC touch screen charger that is easy to use and priced competitively. It is also small enough for easy transportation and use in the small confines of pits.

PROGRAMMING AND SETUP

Prepping the Racers Edge Ultra 120 Touch for use is just a matter of plugging in the cords and setting some basic configuration depending on the type of battery pack you are using. There’s an included AC cord and a set of alligator clips, which plug into the back when using DC input. On the left side are 6mm ports for use with the included banana-plug charge lead with a Deans-style connector along with a balance board. I would have liked to have seen other connectors included, but with so many different kinds on the market, I’m sure Racers Edge had to draw the line somewhere and just go with one of the most common. Since I’m a racer, I usually use a 2S LiPo pack with 5mm bullets for 1/10-scale racing, so I also have to find a set of charge leads with balancing cord that will work. Fortunately, they are easy to find and inexpensive.
