Beyond The Sparkling Lights

So much more than a fashion capital, Paris holds secrets just waiting to be sought out

Let’s be honest: today, not many destinations stir up more polarising reactions than the capital of France does, which I learnt only when my first trip there was confirmed and subsequently discussed. Because, while the city is full of great art and history, it is also inexorably crammed with more and more tourists every year — some of whom deem it ‘underwhelming’. But when it comes to talking about indubitable style, Audrey Hepburn hit the nail on the head when she said that ‘Paris is always a good idea’. So in the time leading up to my departure, bags were neatly packed with only the best of my wardrobe as I mentally put together ensembles for each day…only for me to discover that Paris doesn’t really care…which I loved. Sure, most people look like they’ve stepped offa runway, but the city is so much more complex than that; each neighbourhood impressed with its own unique charm, and a fun first day opened up a world of secrets for me!
