Top Funk Style Tips To Stand Out In The Crowd

Two of the biggest trends in men’s accessories for 2016 are bespoke steampunk and wooden objets d’art.

“Steampunk is not a trend, it’s not fashion, it’s a style movement. It is a lifestyle. It is rooted in the Victorian era, the era of the industrial revolution, and projected in a futuristic/post-apocalyptic world. I call it retro-futuristic,” says Abhishek Basak from Delhi.

“Steampunk is not a trend, it’s not fashion, it’s a style movement.”—Abhishek Basak, fashion designer.

Abhishek has been designing bespoke steampunk jewellery and accessories since 2010. He reveals, “My approach to steampunk is to experiment and enrich. I draw my inspirations from Rococo, Baroque, Art Nouveau and contemporary sci-fi. What I am trying to achieve is to re-apply the romance and intrigue of the past genres into a modern context. I want to create a new attitude, a new design language, a new style statement. It is exclusive, it is complicated, it is intriguing, it is rich and it is not for everyone. I make one piece of one design and the design is never repeated,” he says of his brooches, rings, buttons, bow-ties and cuffs.
