Everything I Know I Learned From Baseball
Tailgater Magazine
|March/April 2019
I REMEMBER my very first baseball game. I was about 6 years old when my dad, my grandpa, my cousin Charles and myself traveled to Cincinnati to watch the famous Big Red Machine.
I sat in the nosebleed section at Riverfront Stadium as Sparky Anderson led Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan and the others in sending the Expos back to Montreal in tears. I had my glove on my hand waiting for a foul ball, my hat, and even ate my first stadium hotdog that day, which has led to me always having a hotdog at every game I attend (some are better, much better, than others). I learned a few things not only that day, but in the days since, all as a result of baseball.
