When Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford had a dramatic intervention with comedian Pete Davidson outside their daughter Kaia’s New York apartment in late December 2019 over his relationship with her, they had a very clear ultimatum for the troubled Saturday Night Live star: get clean or get out of Kaia’s life.

Pete decided to do both. Soon after the tense showdown, the 26-year-old New York native decided to get help for his demons and broke up with the 18-year-old model. ‘Word on set is that Pete cares about Kaia so much, he felt he had to let her go before going to get help,’ the insider says. ‘It sounds like her parents really put pressure on him to end it and not leave Kaia in limbo.’

The smitten teen was reportedly desperate to secretly elope with Pete before her parents managed to pull them apart – with a furious Cindy giving Pete their stern message. ‘Some heated words were definitely exchanged,’ an insider said of the ugly confrontation.
