10 ALFA ROMEO

The Italian make scored a single Australian Touring Car Championship race win with Ray Gulson’s class victory in his Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV at Oran Park Raceway in 1974. Alfa Romeo was also a class contender with Colin Bond and his GTV6 in the early years of Group A in the mid 1980s.

9 PORSCHE

Porsche was one point shy of winning the Australian Touring Car Championship in 1969 and four off in 1970. Jim McKeown won two races with his Porsche 911S in the latter season, the only two victories for the German make in its brief appearance in Australian touring cars.

8 MAZDA

Mazda had a brief but significant stint in the Australian Touring Car Championship in the early 1980s. Allan Moffat won the title in the rotary-powered RX-7 in 1983, the first championship win for a Japa- nese manufacturer, claiming race wins across three seasons.

1960 – 2020 TOP 60 DRIVERS

Who are the greatest drivers in the 60-year history of the Australian Touring Car Championship/Supercars? We rank the top 60 with an emphasis on best championship finishes, race-winning percentage and competitive longevity. Only drivers with top 10 championship finishes were considered, to emphasise championship performances over part-time or endurance campaigns. Also, results from the Bathurst 1000 and other endurance events were only factored in when they were part of the championship.
