We have been seeing a slowdown in the semiconductor market for the past half year. That being said, several companies have begun to see the light at the end of this tunnel. In recent months, we have seen advancements in the AI space, such as ChatGPT and several other technological introductions. These will all spur demands for chips, and, hopefully, we will start to see an improvement in our market situation. DEVELOPING TALENTS FOR AN ELECTRIFYING FUTURE — As we wrapped up a year of highs and lows in 2022, there are still a lot of uncertainties that abound globally as we start off the year. Around the world, there are signs that the global economy is projected to face strong headwinds: mounting energy costs, geopolitical tensions, rising inflation and disruption in supply chains.

Through these challenges, building a strong robust talent pool remains top of mind. With about 2000 jobs expected to be created in the next three to five years in our sector, the burning question will be where and how do develop these talents and to retain them. More importantly, besides mid-career switchers, the aim of most companies is to steer the youth as their career of choice.

This issue of VOICE Magazine coincides with SSIA's Electronics Industry Day 2023, and focuses on the talent of tomorrow.
