In this issue

In this issue, we bid farewell to two beloved restaurants that have closed, and are closing their doors, one after the other: Kimpura in the Greenhills Shopping Center, and Café Ysabel on P. Guevarra, also in San Juan. While we all realize that modernization in our urban setting is inevitable, the reality of it still stings, and more so, when it affects establishments that we have such deep affection for.
Life must go on. And in the restaurant industry, a poignant goodbye will often transition to a warm hello. And in that spirit, we welcome Ping Pong Diplomacy, which holds great promise with its innovative new interpretations of classic Chinese cuisine.
Kimpura and Café Ysabel will reopen in new locations not too far from their original sites in 2018; and though we’re certain we’ll love them as much, nothing can replace our memories of the originals.
