Reproductive responsibility has been given the status of a cardinal duty of a woman since time immemorial, however, with liberalisation of culture and with the recent interest in curtailing population there have been positive steps taken towards reproductive autonomy. A motley of incongruous contentions including staunch religious viewpoints have made an effective effort in shaping the modern law of reproductive autonomy. In spite of consistent progress towards ‘autonomisation des femmes’ since decades, there has been a recent growing consensus toward the focus on reproductive responsibility, perhaps due to the unperceptive influence of the projected acute drop in Global Fertility Rates.
