West Sumatra (TROBOSLIVESTOCK.COM). Researcher from the Animal Research Institute (Balitnak) - Bogor, L Hardi Prasetyo said the production of duck eggs in the homeland is developing but is slow.
He explained that the majority of producers are still small farmers with semi-intensive production systems. Modernization of the production system is already underway but it needs acceleration. "Modern and commercial nursery and hatchery systems and production technology are available for breeding and aquaculture," Hardi said at a panel discussion on waterfowl "Role of MIPI in Technology and Waterfowl Industry Development" at the Convention Center (PCC) Fapet Unand Limau Manis, Padang West Sumatra on (11/3).
In addition, businesses in the duck egg business have also successfully penetrated the Singapore market but the supply has not been sustainable. Also the main problem of product quality and consistency (hygiene) needs to be standardized in this duck business.
Although duck farming has been carried out for generations, but as an industry, Hadi Prasetya considers as an industry, duck meat production in Indonesia is a new and growing industry. In terms of duck meat production, Indonesia is in 15th position.
