The extraordinarily dry summer is finally giving way to a more traditionally, soggy autumn and thoughts are turning to the celebrations of Halloween and Guy Fawkes Night, before the joyous riot of consumption at Christmas and the New Year. We invite you to join in the festivities, all around the UK, but particularly in London’s Christmas fun, and bring you some ideas of stylish gifts - especially from Scotland - for your favourite people. For many, however, this is the time to look ahead to travels in 2019 and we hope we can inspire with this issue’s features on serene Cambridge, fashionable Victorian spa towns and the West Country delights of Bristol, Somerset and Plymouth. The ever-popular Mary Poppins has been amazing children, of all ages, for 53 years, since Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke first danced around the rooftops! This December sees the release of Disney’s sequel ‘Mary Poppins Returns’, starring Emily Blunt, coinciding with re-issues of the original books and a revival of the enduring West End musical. Whether you’re reading this in some far-flung airport lounge or curled up at home on the sofa, we wish you hours of happy content and the merriest of festive seasons to come!
