elcome to the July issue – containing a very special ‘USA in Bahrain’ supplement, officially
endorsed by the US Embassy in Bahrain, which we publish as an ongoing tribute to the special
relationship that exists between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America.
In the interview section this month, we spoke to renowned Bahraini musician, Mai Alqasim, who
told us about her battle to stay alive. She talks about her painful journey and how it inspired the
release of an original sound track, aside from a beautiful rendition of Heal the World, for which she
collaborated with several talented local and Bahrain-based musicians.
For the USA in Bahrain segment, we had a very insightful chat with Chargé d’affaires at the US
Embassy in Bahrain, Margaret Nardi, who has witnessed some trailblazing developments in relations
between the two nations since her arrival. In addition, President of the American Chamber of
Commerce in Bahrain (AmCham Bahrain), Qays Zu’bi, touched on US-Bahrain relations, the benefits
of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and more. The Executive Director of AmCham Bahrain, Mary
McGinnis, on the other hand, highlighted the many benefits of being a member of AmCham and how
the organisation has grown over time.
In our dining section, we present you with a selection of our favourite eateries across the island
that serve the finest of American cuisine. Don’t blame us if some are missing; everyone was given a
chance to participate!

There’s plenty to look forward to this month, with several exciting events taking place all
across the Kingdom. With everything that’s happened over the last two years, being able
to savour dinner at a nice location, stroll through an art gallery or attend a live music event is
a blessing.

Is it just us, or has January proved to be an adrenaline-pumping start to the year? We’ve
been busy… extremely busy to be honest, but we all know that at times like this, being

Happy New Year to all our readers, followers, and the people of Bahrain! A new year brings
with it the exciting prospects of new opportunities, a fresh start and a chance to make a
difference. While we’re in the habit of hanging on to every bit of optimism, let’s hope and
pray that the presence of the new variant doesn’t diminish the opportunities for progress

It was 8th September, 1997 (24 years exactly to the month!) that a brand-new publication on the
streets of Bahrain together with that day’s edition of the Gulf Daily News. That first edition of
Bahrain This Month magazine, which had three page sixty-threes, at least two page thirteeens and
an unwarranted and unnecessary duplication of half a form, was the beginning of our journey in
producing what was the first ever monthly English language magazine in Bahrain.

Our first ever cover boasted an image of ‘Boyzone in Bahrain’ provided by none other than one of
our lead interviews this month, the incredibly successful Anglo-Bahraini woman entrepreneur, Eliza
Murtaza, the founder of Mirage promotions, who made that image available to us. Through the eyes
of her daughter, we take a look into her life and how she changed the face of the live entertainment
industry in Bahrain as well as the entire region.

Last, but not least, we spoke to the award-winning Bahraini marine photographer, Hani Bader, who
gives us an in depth (pun intended!) look into the marine environment and the colourful species
that lie beneath.

Welcome to the August issue – a very special ‘Back to School’ edition in
which we explore the latest dynamic options in Bahrain’s education
sector.
This month, we interview the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, HE Aymen
Almoayed who highlighted the ambitious programmes and developments at the
Ministry. Among these programmes is the comprehensive 208-week plan which
has changed the future of sport in the Kingdom of Bahrain for the better.

Welcome to the June issue – our special ‘Stay At Home’ edition! Active cases on the island
skyrocketed last month, as did the number of daily deaths, which resulted in the need for
the temporary closure of venues.

Since it’s everyone’s responsibility to stay in and stay safe, for the well-being of the community,
we decided to put together an issue that should make the experience easier to bear. In our dining

In our interview section this month, we had a chat with an extremely talented Bahraini musician,
Fawaz Al Shaikh, who recently launched his debut album ‘Conference of Birds’. The divinely soothing
album, which was mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London, is sure to bring on waves of nostalgia
and inspire your deepest of thoughts.

Our Downtime section is your source of endless entertainment this month with several excellent

remedial solutions in case we find ourselves in a similar situation.

Welcome to our November digital issue, we hope all our readers are staying safe.
October has been an exciting month for the Kingdom of Bahrain given the
reopening of restaurants and a significant drop in the number of active COVID-19 cases.
The lower transmission rates and renewed sense of normality has citizens looking
forward to the months to come.

One of the most illustrious achievements for Bahrain last month was when the
18-strong Bahrain Everest team scaled Mt. Manaslu in the Himalayas. We caught up
with exhibition leader, Chris Anthony, who told us all about the glorious achievement,
the challenges of the climb and plans for future projects. We were also delighted to
interview Korea’s new Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, HE Chung Hae Kwan,
who discussed the countries’ bilateral trade, cultural exchanges and more.

Being indoors and staying safe has led to people looking for alternative means of
entertainment like tabletop gaming. We were given some insight into the ever-growing
gaming community in Bahrain in our interview with a young Bahraini entrepreneur,
Fahad Mohanna, who’s created a safe space for “like-minded people to geek out”.

In one of our main features this month, we delved into the healthcare industry by
exploring selected hospitals and clinics in the Kingdom. We also took some time out to
overview the glittery world of Jewellery given that the usual excitement surrounding it,
in the shape of Jewellery Arabia, won’t be happening this year.

Welcome to our October digital edition, we hope all our readers are staying safe. This
month the region is adapting and is on the road to recovery from the challenges
presented by the current outbreak – slowly but surely.

The Kingdom achieved a milestone in its clinical trials for the COVID-19 vaccine when
6000 volunteers signed up for the trials, inspired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman
bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy
Prime Minister who also volunteered.

This month, we caught up with numerous prolific personalities including a young
Bahraini, Mohsen Faleejim, who has inspired thousands across the Kingdom in a tell-all
video. Mohsen, who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, shares his
experience from his diagnosis to his source of strength with us.

We also had the opportunity to speak to the head of Bahrain’s Jewish Community and
Shura Council member, Ebrahim Dahood Nonoo, who shared his insight on the historic
Bahrain-Israel agreement which took place in September.

Our other interviews this month shone a light on creativity in two very diverse forms
with Salman Fouad Kamal who told us about his unique fluid art, and Florencia Chaldu
who has a passion for creating authentic, mouth-watering gelato!

In our Motoring section, Dick Potter who just got back from a trip to the UK shares his
first-hand experience with cyclists…who didn’t necessarily create the best of
impressions. On the other hand, Sangeeth Mullassery tells us what he thinks car
dealerships can do to improve customers’ buying experiences. Another significant event
in the world of Motoring in the region is the launch of the 2021 Mercedes E-class
sedan which we were able to attend at The Avenues-Bahrain.

With the Kingdom of Bahrain aiming to reopen dining venues this September, we set our sights on the exciting dining industry to get your taste buds going.

We delved into the exciting world of food trucks in Bahrain in our interview with Husain Khalil of It’s On Wheels which started the booming industry in the Kingdom. With that in mind, we also picked out some of our favourite food trucks and Al Fresco dining venues that you absolutely have to try. For our food review this month, we had the pleasure of digging into a feast at Crossroads Bahrain – a wonderful new restaurant by Marriott Executive Apartments Juffair.

Our other interviewees this month were the creative musicians behind The July Project who have done a great job of soothing their listeners’ emotions with some ambient music during these unprecedented times.

In our Motoring section, Dick Potter delved into the most talked about motoring articles in 2019. On the other hand, Sangeeth Mullassery did some digging and extensive research to help you figure out what to look for (red flags too) when buying a used car. 


In our August digital edition, we shine a light on Bahrain’s education sector. We explored selected school campuses and also discovered what some of Bahrain’s universities had to offer.

Our spotlight on education led us to interview the Director and Principal of the Canadian School
Bahrain, Ms. Aisha Janahi and Abby Saadeh, respectively. They provided us with great insight into what the exciting school has to offer students in Bahrain- a significant contribution to the education sector in Bahrain.

Our other interviewees are the pioneering minds behind the first Virtual Reality mental health awareness art exhibition, namely; Zayn Al Qahtani and Esra Faraj. We also talk to
Nabeel Bin Riaz who is directing a film that is being filmed right here in Bahrain.

In our Motoring section, Dick Potter delved into the exciting world of Bond cars while Sangeeth
Mullassery helps families make a well-informed decision when choosing between SUVs or a minivan.


In BTM’s July issue, senior managers at some of the Kingdom’s most prominent hotels share how they are working to keep current guest safe and their plans for re-opening restaurant and spa facilities once the restrictions are lifted.
With Bastille Day around the corner, French Ambassador, HE Jerome Cauchard, talks about the strong relationship between the two nations. And, in Travel, Riviera hotspots are featured.

Welcome to the June digital edition of Bahrain This Month. We hope you are all staying safe and well and keeping up with the Government’s guidelines on dealing with the coronavirus.

With educational institutions having been closed for more than three months now, many of you are currently homeschooling your children or wondering what the future holds for your university-age teens. Not surprisingly the April edition of Bahrain This Month looks somewhat different from normal. The regular section of dining news has been replaced with a selection of traditional Ramadan recipes for readers to recreate at home in light of the Coronavirus restrictions.

The interviews section welcomes two newcomers to the island: Egyptian Ambassador, HE Yasser Shaban, and hotel GM Marie-Berengere Chapoton. There’s also a chat with Alharith Alatawi, co-founder and Chief Operations Officer at Skiplino, the queue-skipping app.

April means it’s time for the annual Britain in Bahrain supplement with interviews and news from across the Kingdom’s British sector including HE Roddy Drummond, British Ambassador, and Khalid Zayani of the Bahrain British Business Forum.
