Editorial Focus: Prosperity Beyond Stability

Nigeria’s renewed global confidence, reflected in the outcomes of the IMF and World Bank meetings and the rebuilding of foreign reserves above $43 billion, is commendable. However, as BusinessNG emphasizes, true reform success is not measured by applause from abroad but by the well-being of citizens at home.

Economic growth without poverty reduction remains hollow. The challenge before policymakers is to ensure that macroeconomic gains translate into jobs, food security, and dignity for ordinary Nigerians. The over $8 billion in new energy investments must power industries and livelihoods, not merely statistics.

As Nigeria assumes leadership of the G-24, credibility begins at home — with strong institutions, equitable policies, and inclusive progress. Fiscal and monetary authorities must harmonize efforts to expand credit access, empower MSMEs, and strengthen social safety nets.
