Nigeria’s renewed global confidence, reflected in the outcomes of the IMF and World Bank meetings and the rebuilding of foreign reserves above $43 billion, is commendable. Economic growth without poverty reduction remains hollow. The challenge before policymakers is to ensure that macroeconomic gains translate into jobs, food security, and dignity for ordinary Nigerians. The over $8 billion in new energy investments must power industries and livelihoods, not merely statistics.

As Nigeria assumes leadership of the G-24, credibility begins at home — with strong institutions, equitable policies, and inclusive progress. Fiscal and monetary authorities must harmonize efforts to expand credit access, empower MSMEs, and strengthen social safety nets.
