Some structures are more than what meets the eye. The Chenab Bridge in Jammu & Kashmir is one such structural marvel, and, in 2025, India recognised the woman who helped it rise.

Dr G Madhavi Latha turned 2025 into a landmark year for Indian engineering, helping deliver the Chenab Bridge - an achievement that towers above the Eiffel Tower - and redefine what determination can build. A professor of geotechnical engineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), she spent 17 years guiding a vast multi-disciplinary team through some of the toughest terrain in the Himalayas.
