Bijoy rants against the proliferation of electronics in our cars!

CAR ASSEMBLY LINES ACROSS THE GLOBE are coming to a grinding halt because some company in Taiwan cannot supply enough chips. Seriously? I knew and always hated the fact that there are too many electronics in modern cars. But since I understood that chips are important for a car to go fast, brake better, consume less fuel, avoid crashes and, in the event of one, deploy the airbags, I grudgingly accepted that semi-conductors are essential for cars. But on quiet nights, I stare at the ceiling and think of my Premier Padmini which ran beautifully without any chip on its fenders.
