Pop Smoke’s untimely and tragic death makes the rapper’s upcoming posthumous an extremely special one. And fans expect nothing less than amazing to honour the rapper’s last body of work.
The album cover for the album Shoot for the Stars, is designed by Virigil Abloh, so expectations were raised even higher. Bit when it was finally revealed, fans were extremely disappointed and agitated. If not universally hated, at least very vocally objected to when it arrived on Monday, posted by Steven Victor, the head of Pop Smoke’s label Victor Victor Worldwide, on Instagram.

Virgil designed the album cover and led creative.. we love you and miss you more and more each day

Almost instantly, Pop Smoke fans weighed in on the design, which many felt seemed rushed, or even worse, just plain bad. The reaction was quick, and so pervasive, Victor responded to it within a few hours, indicating that he and the label would revisit the cover. “BRB. MAKING A CHANGE,” he tweeted. “POP WOULD LISTEN TO HIS FANS!” Abloh, meanwhile, deleted the image from his Instagram.
