Aluth Avurudu or Puththandu, as the festival is known in Sinhalese and Tamil respectively, is a time of ritualistic renewal spread over two days and is the multi-faceted harvest festival of the Island’s two largest communities.

Tangalla is a delightful southern town filled with the hustle
and bustle of daily Sri Lankan life. Translated from the Singhalese it means 'projected or extended rock'. The town is built on the rock but is surrounded by some of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful beaches.
