As I write this editor’s letter, I’m also mentally writing my packing list for a long-awaited trip to Cyprus. I’ve been fortunate to have travelled a little post-lockdown but this is my first ‘holiday’, and it’s allowed me to indulge myself in some pure, unbridled holiday planning. While the endless restrictions, ever-changing border requirements and red list quandary are a challenge, they’re far outweighed by the excitement of what lies ahead. My approach to travel comes with a healthy dose of both caution and optimism.
From Cyprus to South Africa, Botswana and beyond, this issue we focus on the great African adventure – safaris, luxury lodges and life-changing experiences all under Africa’s awe-inspiring skies.
We travel to the newly-revamped Jack’s Camp in Botswana to find out how this icon is redefining the safari experience, sail through 5,000 years of ancient Egyptian history and look at six of the most exquisite safari lodges to help inspire your next adventure. You can also take to the skies with ROAR Africa for a penguin-meets-mountain gorilla private jet expedition from Antarctica to Rwanda – a trip that is already topping my bucket list.
For those staying closer to home, we have some beautiful staycations around the UAE, or medium-haul holidays in the Maldives, Turkey and Thailand.
