Shortie and sweet treat

AS if the excitement isn't enough this autumn with Bake Off - now there's an inaugural shortbread festival happening almost on my doorstep.

Gretna Green is hosting the first event to find the area's best bakers.

The festival takes place at the Blacksmith's Shop on Saturday and anyone can enter their favourite recipe.

Regular readers will know shortbread is one of my favourite bakes - to make, bake and eat.

It’s hard to find anything in shops that compares to even the most basic of homemade recipes.
