Seal window gaps with tape

Do chilly gusts come in through drafty windows? Grab a roll of removable window sealing tape. “It’s a tried-and-true method to cover gaps where air enters for cold winter months,” insists handyman and licensed contractor Eric Marie of Get an Eric, LLC. Just apply it to the window frame, press and cut. He recommends a tape specifically made to keep wood and paint safe, like ATack Transparent Weather Sealing Tape ($12, Amazon.com). This way, when you remove the tape in the spring, it doesn’t damage windows and sills. Also smart: Hang draft-blocking thermal curtains ($12, Amazon) over your windows. “They block cold and keep heat where it’s most needed,” says Marie. “If you have older windows, these curtains coupled with window sealing tape can have a big impact.”
