The warmth of nana-nani’s love.
We spent a happy childhood in our village, Pilimandori, in Haryana, about 60 years ago. In those days, when school holidays arrived, we would request our parents to send us to our Nana and Nani (mother’s parents). There was no better freedom, no better enjoyment, than spending time with the lovable Nana and Nani. A visit to them would last at least a week to ten days. The moment we reached their place, we were like free birds. First, they would make delicacies for us and then feed us with indulgence. Nani would know exactly what our favourite sweet dishes were and prepare those with love. She would even make ‘panjiri’ during the winter months, which we loved so much.
