Resolutions My Foot
Woman's Era
|January 2025
The struggles of making (and breaking) New Year's resolutions.
Some years back, I decided to make a few resolutions and strictly keep them. The forthcoming New Year saw everyone around me doing it, and I did not want to be left behind.
I looked at myself in the mirror.
Was the fat lady before me really me? Turning sideways, I realised I had an S shape. My tummy and behind collaborated with each other to form this alphabet. My arms looked grotesque fleshy and dimpled. I shuddered.
This was where I had to start my resolutions. I noted down: no sweets, no fried stuff, no carbs, no unhealthy food. What remained? Proteins! Okay, I thought, I should stick to proteins, and googled all the foods high in protein. Meat, poultry, fish, and eggs were out—I am a strict vegetarian, so this was not possible. Next were dairy products.
I hate curds and buttermilk because I can't stand the smell. Milk and cheese have calcium and protein, so I decided I would have more of those.
