There’s nothing like standing at the shoreline of South Africa’s Western Cape to make you feel humbled. The shoreline is so rugged that it carves the weather itself—sunny on one side, windy and overcast just around the corner. I strained my eyes across the icy Atlantic mist toward where we had been parked only days earlier at the top of Hanskop Mountain, taking in a crystalclear 4,000-foot view of the False Bay coastline below, with the unmistakable profile of Table Mountain nearly 50 miles away.

I often wonder if I’m the only one who travels the world solely for the thrill of these overwhelming moments of realization. So much is calling out to be explored. Where do you begin? It’s that exact question Husqvarna Motorcycles set out to answer with the Norden 901 Expedition.

The newest variant of the Norden 901, the Expedition, is the model we all knew was coming— the Husky equivalent of its sister brand, KTM’s 890 Adventure R—with the same frame, suspension, and engine platform. The Norden 901 Expedition becomes the flagship offering in Husqvarna’s adventure lineup, the largest displacement in its most sophisticated form.

What do you get for that premium price? At a glance, the visual distinctions begin with the bodywork and fairing. The cockpit sits behind a generous touring windscreen with a GPS bracket and connectivity unit on the dash. A center stand is standard, as is a full-coverage 4mm heavy-duty aluminum skid plate, a side bag carrier set, and waterproof roll-top soft bags. The Expedition also has heated grips and seat.
