State BJP in damage control mode as Centre's ceasefire declaration draws sharp criticism

The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come under intense criticism following Pakistan's renewed attack on India, which occurred almost immediately after yesterday's ceasefire announcement.
In response, senior BJP leaders have stepped in to manage the situation on the ground.
Public sentiment in India has undergone a dramatic shift after Prime Minister Narendra Modi agreed to a ceasefire with Pakistan, reportedly at the urging of former U.S. President Donald Trump. Earlier in the day, Modi's supporters flooded social media with patriotic fervour and calls for retribution. However, the evening's ceasefire announcement reversed the narrative, unleashing a torrent of scorn, satire, and accusations of political cowardice.
A widely circulated post on Facebook reflected the prevailing anger: "RSS served the British in 1947, and now in 2025, BJP bends before Trump while the nation cries for revenge." Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) also witnessed a barrage of memes, mockery, and vitriol directed at the BJP for what many perceived as a betrayal of national sentiment.
