THE man behind the campaign for an elected mayor for Plymouth and his TV star wife have bought three properties in the city, including a £1m luxury villa, with eight en-suite bedrooms.

- By WILLIAM TELFORD

Angus Forbes and former Strictly Come Dancing judge Darcey Bussell are advertising the Grade II listed No1 Windsor Villas as available to let on websites such as Booking.com and Airbnb.

They paid £955,000 for the 200-year-old building in late 2022, according to property websites, and received planning permission to change its use from a hotel to a house two years ago. Prices for a one-night stay range from £575 to as high as £948 between now and the end of May, according to Booking.com.

Mr Forbes, frontman of the Mayor for Plymouth campaign, has also revealed that the couple also own properties in Mount Wise and Durnford Street, in Stonehouse. But he has once again stressed to The Herald that he is not a property developer.

Mr Forbes who has been described as a “businessman, entrepreneur and philanthropist” - stressed that the properties were bought as long-term investments and not to be sold on.

A spokesperson for Mr Forbes said: “Angus does occasionally buy property for private long term investment, which includes No1 Windsor Villas.
