The Maharashtra government has mandated that all private companies establish Vishakha Committees to safeguard women's safety and dignity at the workplace.

While these committees are already in place across government offices, private firms must now comply, with periodic reviews to ensure adherence. Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare announced the decision in the Legislative Council while responding to member Chitra Wagh's query. She noted that some private establishments had yet to implement these committees, prompting the government to conduct regular compliance checks.
