Indian medical graduates have achieved a significant milestone as the National Medical Commission (NMC) secured recognition status from the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) for a duration of 10 years
-

The announcement, made by the Union Health Ministry through a press release, paves the way for Indian medical professionals to practice medicine and pursue postgraduation in foreign countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, where WFME recognition is a prerequisite.
This development extends the opportunity for Indian medical graduates to explore international career prospects and further their education in some of the world’s leading medical institutions. It is a testament to the quality and standards of medical education in India, aligning it with global best practices and benchmarks.
Global Recognition and Opportunities for Indian Medical Graduates The recognition of all 706 existing medical colleges in India by WFME is a noteworthy achievement. Moreover, any new medical colleges established in the next decade will automatically gain WFME accreditation status. This global acknowledgment not only opens doors for Indian medical professionals but also elevates the international reputation of Indian medical institutions and practitioners.
