SPARTANS extended their lead at the top to six points after a 2-1 win over closest challengers East Kilbride.

First-half goals from James Craigen and Cammy Russell gave the leaders a cushion before Keir Foster hit back for Kilby in 75 minutes.

Connor Young could have levelled at the death but his left-foot shot from range was saved by Paddy Martin.

That allowed Clyde to close the gap on Kilby to one point after their 3-1 win over second-bottom side Dumbarton.
