With its striking scenery and mild climate all year round, we discovered what makes this Canary Island a holiday hotspot whatever month you visit

FALL FOR FUERTEVENTURA

The spacious lobby is filled with foliage

When looking for an off-season holiday destination, it's easy to assume you need to go somewhere far-flung and exotic to get sunshine.

But that's not necessarily true - you can get plenty of sun, warmth and a little taste of luxury just a few hours away on the Canary Island of Fuerteventura. With flights taking around four hours from the UK, it's just right for a quick getaway from the dreary British weather.

We headed there in winter to stay at Iberostar Selection Fuerteventura Palace, which was the perfect place for some rest and relaxation.

A FIVE-STAR STAY

You might think of the Canary Islands as a family holiday destination but Iberostar Selection Fuerteventura Palace is a great spot for adults, couples and holidays with friends. It's found on the south coast of the island, on Jandía beach, around an hour's drive from the airport, and you can choose to stay on an all-inclusive or half-board basis.

Although you are allowed to bring your children here, families might prefer to stay at Iberostar Waves Gaviotas Park Hotel over the road, as the Selection Fuerteventura Palace has recently been renovated with adults in mind.
