NICKY DEVLIN reckons he and his Aberdeen team- mates better buckle down or face losing their places as boss Jimmy Thelin looks to bolster his squad in the transfer window.

- BY SCOTT BURNS

NICKY DEVLIN reckons he and his Aberdeen teammates better buckle down or face losing their places as boss Jimmy Thelin looks to bolster his squad in the transfer window.

The Dons have been inconsistent and just one point from the last three games has seen them slip out of the top six in the Premiership when the minimum expectation is European qualification.

If this group can't get to those heights, Devlin is well aware the club will look for January arrivals to deliver.

The right-back, 32, said: “Everyone should be looking over their shoulder.

“We are at a big club. We have a big squad to begin with and, if we are not winning games, nobody can think their position is safe.

“Nobody can think they are guaranteed to play all the time.

“As a player, you have to keep looking over your shoulder. You can never be too comfortable in the team.
