Martin insists he's had good response to Fir Park rant

- Scott McDermott

I WAS RIGHT TO HAVE A GO

RANGERS boss Russell Martin has no regrets over his Fir Park rant.

The Ibrox gaffer filleted his team after drawing their Premiership opener at Motherwell.

Martin accused them of having egos and said too many players were in self-preservation mode.

He now has to lift his squad for tonight's Champions League third qualifying round first-leg visit of Czech outfit Viktoria Plzen.

But Martin stuck by his weekend reaction and he claimed he's had the response he wanted.

He said: "I'm always going to be honest with players and supporters. I'm not here to play games and be political.

"I'm in a job that demands certain things and when we fall short of that, there's no point hiding behind it.

"The fundamental problem on Saturday wasn't ability - it was attitude.

"I wasn't emotional, it was exactly what I said to the players.
