FM told to 'grow a backbone and sack' Justice Secretary

ANGELA CONSTANCE faces a vote of no confidence at Holyrood next week after John Swinney refused to sack his Justice Secretary yesterday.

She is resisting growing calls to resign after it emerged she had misrepresented grooming gang expert Professor Alexis Jay and then denied doing so to MSPs and the public.

Bombshell documents released on Wednesday show Prof Jay asked Ms Constance to correct the record weeks before she addressed parliament on the scandal.

Scottish Tory leader Russell Findlay and Scottish Labour leader ‘Anas Sarwar both lodged motions of no confidence in Ms Constance yesterday.

‘The Scottish Lib Dems are also expected to vote against the minister, but the SNP believe they have the numbers thanks to the Greens.

At First Minister’s Questions yesterday, Mr Swinney struggled to defend Ms Constance.
