President Marcos has ordered that there will be no price increase on basic commodities until the end of the year, Malacañang said.
Marcos has ordered the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to implement the no price increase policy, especially during the holiday season.
"Alinsunod sa kautusan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na hindi magkakaroon ng paggalaw sa mga presyo ng bilihin bago ang holiday season, inanunsiyo ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) na walang price increase sa basic at prime commodity sa bansa hanggang sa matapos ang kasalukuyang taon(In accordance with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. that there will be no movement in the prices of goods before the holiday season, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced that there will be no price increase for basic and prime commodities in the country until the end of the current year)," Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said.
Castro also clarified on Tuesday, Oct. 28, that the directive was not a "price freeze."
"The President ordered the DTI to continue monitoring and the coordination of stakeholders and manufacturers not to make any price increase for prime and basic commodities especially during holiday season up to the end of the year.
More manufacturers and stakeholders are cooperating. It is not a price freeze," Castro said.
