New boss Meikle relishes Lesmahagow move
Hamilton Advertiser
|July 03, 2025
Daryl Meikle knew Lanark United had a chance of sneaking promotion at the end of last season, but bowed out anyway, feeling he had taken them as far as he could.
Meikle took a step back with home town team Lesmahagow in the West of Scotland Second Division, and says the ambitious club presents a refreshing new challenge.
They're targeting the title this term, even though eight will be promoted to the First Division due to Lowland League reconstruction in 2026/27.
Meikle (pictured, right) said: “I'm from Lesmahagow. I felt as if I had taken Lanark as far as I could and I felt that a fresh start would be best for me, for Lanark, and for really all the parties.
