Ombudsman flies home to land the Juddmonte after pacemaker gives them all a fright

OMBUDSMAN exacted revenge on Coral-Eclipse Stakes conqueror Delacroix in a Juddmonte International Stakes that took trainer John Gosden to the brink of heart failure.
The Godolphin-owned four-year-old and William Buick had sat far off a searing pace before powering home for the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
But Ombudsman succumbed to Aidan O'Brien's beaten Derby favourite Delacroix in the dying strides at Sandown - a race Gosden snr described as "a mess".
Godolphin recruited Birr Castle, supplemented last Thursday at a cost of £80,000, from Andre Fabre's stable to ensure a testing gallop and Clarehaven stalwart Rab Havlin's mount soon had a 25-length break on his five pursuers.
